The chain store is set to leave its current premises in the centre of Chesterfield in favour of a space at Ravenside Retail Park. The chosen unit used to be home to Debenhams and is considerably larger than the one currently occupied by Marks and Spencer, which will enable the company to expand the choice of home items, clothes and food that it offers to residents of the town.

Speaking to Destination Chesterfield, Marks and Spencer Regional Manager Craig Baldock said that the company was delighted to be able to switch to a bigger base at the retail park. He then went on to say:
“We believe this is the right decision to ensure we can deliver the very best M&S offer for customers in Chesterfield and the wider local area. We will keep the community updated as the works progress.”
Local councillor Kate Sarvent said that, although it was a loss to the high street, the ongoing regeneration of that area would counterbalance it. The new store will open later this year.
