Chesterfield may get new nightspot

An application has been lodged to open a new entertainment option in Beetwell Street in Chesterfield, potentially giving those living in the area another venue to try out.

Security and Facilities Management Services Ltd, which is based in Holmewood, is the company that has submitted this application. It is hoping to get permission to open a venue called The Avenue, which would be situated within the former home of the pool and snooker club Rileys.

Chesterfield Borough Council has now received the application and it has indicated that the proposed venue would offer a variety of entertainment choices and be targeted primarily at the late-night clientele. Among the planned entertainment that would be provided are live bands, dance nights and stand-up comedy performances.

The application goes on to state that:

“The operators are responsible people with experience in the industry. The premises will cater for both the daytime and night-time economies, opening as a bar during the day and evening and then a late-night venue into the early hours.”

The snooker club that used to be based at the chosen site closed its doors two years ago and it has been vacant since then.

Should this project go ahead, the owners will be able to rely on places that offer flyer printing to help with promoting it and drawing in new clientele.
