The Health and Wellbeing Hub at Chesterfield Royal Hospital is in the running for a prestigious industry award, having made it onto the final shortlist of candidates.
This hub is in contention within the category of Staff Wellbeing Award at the 2024 HSJ Awards. These awards are recognised as the industry standard for excellence within the healthcare sector, so it is a major honour. More than 1,000 organisations were entered into the awards this year, but these have now been whittled down to a shortlist of 234.
One of them is the Health and Wellbeing Hub. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that it only opened its doors during the summer of 2023. It is a facility located within Chesterfield Royal Hospital that is free to use and that helps people with mental and physical health issues.
Brochure printing from shops in Chesterfield is one of the ways in which facilities like this can make people aware of the services they offer, through free leaflets that can be taken away by the public.
Among those provided by this hub are two studios for exercising, a gymnasium, rooms for counselling services, showers and changing rooms.
Abbie Foster from the local NHS Trust said that everyone who worked at the hub felt honoured to be shortlisted for an award.
The ceremony is to be held on Thursday, 21 November.
