Chesterfield gets brand new bus service

People living in Chesterfield have expressed their delight at the announcement that it will be getting a brand new bus service to link up different areas in the town.

Those residing in the town’s Grindlow Avenue, which is part of the Boythorpe district of Chesterfield, are expected to see significant benefits as a result of the Stagecoach X17 route changes. The alterations to this service will begin on the 8th of May.

The route taken by this bus during the week will be lengthened to go as far as Sitwell Avenue. Services will run in an anti-clockwise, one-way loop, taking in Grindlow Avenue and Hucklow Avenue, on their way to this destination. The return route will take it back into Chesterfield and then on as far as Sheffield.

Passengers will also have the option of boarding or getting off the bus at various safe spots en route, thanks to the introduction of new ‘hail and ride’ policies.

Local community organiser Natasha Keen told the Derbyshire Times that:

“For the local community, the reinstatement of the transport means more than just a bus, it’s a place to see neighbours and friends and a vital link to the city centre, enabling the less mobile to have freedom and independence.”

Companies running local bus services always have the option of turning to places that provide sign printing, to help with directing passengers.
