Jade Ashmore is 19 years old and she will have to make sure she doesn’t pull her punches when she comes up against 30-year-old Mandy Buyold, as the latter claimed fifth spot during 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The Chesterfield teen was given an invite to travel to Canada for the fight after Buyold’s coach made contact with her through social media. He was impressed by her in the ring and felt that she could offer Buyold a real challenge.
After fighting Buyold she will move on to a training camp, where she will enjoy a week’s coaching alongside the Canadian boxing squad. Her eventual ambition is to be a gym instructor and she told the Derbyshire Times that testing herself against a quality opponent was a chance she couldn’t miss, adding:
“She is far more experienced than I am. She has had hundreds of senior bouts whereas I have had less than 10 so it will be really good to see where I am compared to her.”
Local boxing clubs often make use of places that provide calendar printing, so that they can keep track of upcoming bouts.
