Property Week recently published its list of the country’s 100 best locations for shopping and Chesterfield came in at number 26. This meant it was ranked above some of the UK’s biggest cities – including Leeds and Birmingham – and was just a single place below Manchester.
Although the list has been a regular feature of the magazine for years, and is taken very seriously by the retail industry, this is the very first appearance on it for Chesterfield. It will delight those who own shops in the town in the run up to Christmas.
The ranking for the Hot 100 UK Retail Locations is determined by CACI, the data, technology and marketing experts, with the focus being on places with investment potential.
Speaking to the Derbyshire Times, Destination Chesterfield chair, Peter Swallow, said that development projects to the tune of £1 billion were already underway within the area, adding:
“Chesterfield’s ranking as a top retail hot spot will bring the town further prominence and hopefully increase our retail offering to residents and visitors.”
