Sheffield-based graphic designer Tom Booth is the creator of The Wall: Inside the Poster Studio, a new book about the work that goes into the design side of the poster printing process. Local bands from areas such as Sheffield and Chesterfield will often use professional poster printing services for Posters to attract fans to their gigs. This new book is sure to be of interest to anyone who has been involved in the promotion of bands and live music, and puts a large emphasis on the importance of design when it comes to attracting audiences to live music venues.
Leeds-based poster artist Graham Pilling – who works under the moniker Army of Cats – is featured in the book. Speaking about the method behind his art, Pilling said:
"I will listen to the band and make notes on interesting references or lyrics, and then produce a series of thumbnail sketches. Somewhere in there an idea will jump out and I’ll start building it up on the computer. Sometimes it works out and sometimes I’ll end up scrapping ideas and starting again."
The Wall features insights into the creative design process of poster printing around the world, featuring interviews with artists from as far afield as the United States. The book aims to give its readers an insight into the process that comes before a finished poster is printed.Get a Free Quote for Posters
