Iconic puppet to visit Camden for festival

An iconic puppet depicting a child refugee will be paying a visit to Camden next month, as part of an event that is being described as a festival showcasing hope through art.

Little Amal is 3.5m in height and is a puppet representing a child from Syria. Since being created, she has been adopted an a worldwide human rights symbol and she will be brought to Camden as part of this festival, which is being put together by the Ramadan Tent, The Walk Productions and JW3. During her time in the UK, Amal will be visiting numerous parts of the capital.

Local groups that are organising special festivals of this sort can get help from places in Camden that provide logo design if they want to create brands for them that are memorable and eye-catching.

This particular event will support Camden’s new status as an official ‘Borough of Sanctuary.’ This is a designation given to places in honour of their efforts to ensure that all people are welcomed and are able to get access to any services that they need.

Speaking to Camden Newsroom, Sabrina Francis from the borough council said:

“I hope residents and visitors will join us in welcoming Little Amal and show our support for refugees in the borough as we celebrate our inter-faith communities and multiculturalism.”

The festival will take place on Sunday, April 2.
