Camden gears up to welcome Greek band
The energetic pop/rock band Melisses from Greece is due to perform a one off gig in Camden at the beginning of October.
This award-winning, multi-platinum, group formed in 2008 and consists of Christos Mastoras, Thanos Laitsas, and Costas Mavrogennis. They initially participate in the 2010 Greek Eurovision Song Contest final, singing 'Kinezos' It eventually became their second single, which was then followed up by the release of 'Mistiko', their first album.
The band had a meteoric rise in Greece, in only a matter of a couple years, now with 16 diamond, gold, platinum and multi-platinum, digital singles, realising 200 million streams. Indeed, 12 of their songs went into the radio chart top 10, five singles remaining airplay No.1s for 70 plus weeks. They have also sold-out concerts including famous venues such as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
Melisses has garnered numerous music accolades and awards across Europe, notably achieving a European MTV nomination for 'Best Greek Act' in 2010. They have also worked with more than 20 artists from a host of different musical genres.
