Camden revisits the roots of British reggae

The veteran reggae band Steel Pulse is currently on its 50th Anniversary Tour, and is due to play a Camden show, plus support, in mid-March.

This Birmingham group was founded by Selwyn Brown and David 'Dread' Hinds in 1975. Critics view them as a significant, influential and internationally well-respected established band. As Windrush children, their sound initially incorporated roots reggae, but also
elements of Latin and jazz.

Steel Pulse's 1978 debut LP,' Handsworth Revolution' is generally viewed by critics as a milestone in British music. With the 1986 album 'Babylon the Bandit', picking up a Grammy Award, and songs such as 'Rally Round the Flag', their back catalogue still resonates with generations today.

The band have more recently blended roots reggae with rock, punk and R&B to form a distinctive sound that intersects boundaries.

The support on this occasion is provided by The Selector, fronted by Pauline Black, a band widely acknowledged for producing era-synonymous tracks notably 'On My Radio' and 'Three Minute Hero'. The popularity of the band confirms that two-tone continues to be vibrant, as evidenced in their latest LP 'Human Algebra'.

Tickets range in price from £37.50 to £39.50. Flyer printing can be a great asset when it comes to the promotion of a concert or musical event.

Steel Pulse's show has a starting time of 7.00 pm on Tuesday, 11 March at Roundhouse, Camden.
