What's Happening in London - Camden, England…

Camden to receive air quality grant

Camden is set to be one of a number of boroughs across the capital to receive grant funding from the Government that can be used to reduce the effects of air pollution.

In total, nine different boroughs throughout London will be given money for this purpose. This funding is coming from the Air Quality Grant created by the Government and there is close to £11 million to be divided between the chosen boroughs. The other eight to be involved in the scheme are Westminster City Council, Hammersmith & Fulham, Redbridge, Islington, Havering, Enfield, Lewisham and Brent.

According to East London Lines, Rebecca Pow, the Environment Minister, stated that:

“This funding will support a range of inspiring and innovative projects across the country – stepping up our monitoring of harmful pollutants, educating the public and boosting the use of green transport.”

The idea behind the grant is to enable Camden and other London boroughs to put measures in place that will cut back on pollution levels in the environment and help local communities, businesses and schools.

Organisations in the area that want to get the word out about any initiatives they are using this funding for can turn to poster printing outlets in Camden to help with that.

Pow also indicated that any pollution reduction projects that the boroughs undertake will help to meet their Environment Act commitments.
