What's Happening in London - Camden, England…

Camden prepares to reverberate to Indie-pop

The South African band Beatenberg is presently on tour, and is due to play a gig in Camden in mid-April.

This trio got together in 2008 in Cape Town with the intention of fusing current pop and South African sounds such as House, Kwaito and Mbaqanga. They do so through the infusion of an upbeat twist, which appeals to an expansive fan base.

Consisting of Matthew Field on vocals and guitar, drummer Robin Brink and bassist Ross Dorkin, their first album 'The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg' came out in 2014. It collected a host of accolades, most notably the much sought-after 'Album of the Year' at South Africa's Music Awards.

The band acquired international coverage and larger global audiences when the single 'Rafael' received considerable praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and The Factor. They subsequently signed with Island Records, and in 2018 produced '12 Views of Beatenberg', which proved to be a big success.

The trio has since been touring worldwide, including acting as George Ezra's support, and even made an appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon'.

Tickets cost £22.56 inclusive of a transaction fee. Print shops can be a useful resource for those engaged in the promotion of a concert or other musical event.

Beatenberg's gig has a starting time of 7.00pm on Thursday, 18 April at KOKO, Camden.
