Camden has date with original punk rocker

Singer/songwriter Hugh Cornwall is embarking on a tour, plus special guests, and is due to play a gig in Camden at the end of November.

This guitarist and frontman was a founding member of the Stranglers, formed in 1974. They signed to United Artists and their initial single '(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)', released early in 1977, came off the debut album 'Rattus Norvegicus'.

Hugh was responsible for writing many of the band's most popular songs over 10 LPs. These included tracks notably from 'No More Heroes', 'La Folie', 'Black and White', and 'The Raven'. His words to 'Golden Brown', their most successful single, with its different layers of meaning, in particular, stand out.
He finally left the Stranglers in 1990 to pursue a solo career full-time Now highly respected, Hugh has an extensive back catalogue. 2022 witnessed the release of his latest studio album, 'Moments of Madness'.

The special guests on this occasion are eXTC. XTC emerged out of the punk /new-wave revolution in the 1970s. They produced hits such as 'Making Plans for Nigel' and 'Mayor of Simpleton'.
