Camden educational group smashes crowdfunding target

Camden Learning’s crowdfunding campaign has been a success.

The educational partnership of Camden Learning hoped to raise £50,000 in order to address the local digital divide. The financial target was met promptly, and 150 computers were purchased as a result. Each computer was bought for £227. Printing services can be used to showcase examples of success, especially when organisations want to boost their profile.

Bringing local schools and the council together, Camden Learning aims to improve the overall level of educational performance in the area. Councillor Angela Mason explained that the crowdfunding had been necessary because of disadvantaged pupils lacking adequate access to online education. She said:

“This money will be able to ensure our young people have the equipment they need to succeed and have the best start in life.”

As £50,900 was raised early, residents had the opportunity to dig even deeper into their pockets. Approximately 260 individuals and groups made donations in the initial phase of the crowdfunding.

Camden Learning does not intend to rest on its laurels, and has stress the importance of addressing the digital divide when the crowdfunding experiment is completed.

Further work on the policy will be based on the principle that no child should be left behind. The public has been encouraged to look out for further announcements in this area.
