Camden charity engages in crowdfunding

A Camden-based charity has started a crowdfunding campaign.

The Pirate Castle is a boating charity located in Camden Town. The management of the organisation has claimed that the impact of the pandemic has reduced its income by £100,000. This figure is over half the annual cost of its normal operations.

Due to the financial challenges faced by the Pirate Castle, it is now hoping that £40,000 can be raised before the end of March. Tim Molloy, the General Manager of the charity, told the Hampstead Highgate Express that:

“This fundraiser is crucial to keeping our fully accessible community spaces and boat fleet operational, retaining key staff and running our free and affordable paddlesport and canal boating projects for local kids, disability groups and communities in need.”

Kal Webb, a development manager at the Pirate Castle, pointed out that there is a high demand for the services of the charity. This is because it has the ability to keep the wider community connected when circumstances permit.

Print shops are often called upon by those in the third sector, especially when fundraising is being undertaken, to create promotional materials.

Since its beginnings in 1966, the Pirate Castle has promoted learning and healthy living. It has used its centre on Gilbey’s Wharf to cater for youth groups and people with disabilities. The charity has also facilitated volunteering, while covering its expenditure through corporate bookings.
