It's almost time again for the Saskatoon Blues Festival. This year's theme is ‘Winter Meltdown’ and the festival will bring some of the best blues musicians from around the world to Saskatoon.
The festival, which is presented by the Saskatoon Blues Society, is seven days long and draws thousands of visitors from near and far. The stage shows are held at both the Odeon Event Center and the Hilton Garden Hotel.
This year, acts will include Marcia Ball, Steve James, Blind Boy Paxton and the B.C. Read Big Band. There will also be a Downtown Lounge Series and a windup party. In addition, there are several outreach performances in seniors homes and community centers. The Saskatoon Blues Festival is a great way to introduce the public to blues music and to help foster an appreciation for all kinds of music.
It is very likely that the blues festival will attract visitors from all over Saskatchewan and that it is something Saskatoon residents look forward to every year. No doubt organizers are working with local printing companies to get the word out about the festival to various communities. This can be in the form of a flyer or a brochure which can be distributed through various tourism offices.
The 11th annual Saskatoon Blues Festival will take place from February 25 - March 3 at various downtown venues. Tickets for each performance are $30. The Windup Party will take place at Vangelis Tavern on March 3 beginning at 1:00 PM. Tickets are $10.
