Birders from across Saskatchewan and further afield as well may be able to spot one of North America's rarest birds and will depart from Saskatoon.
Hosted as a fundraiser for the Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation charity, the dates for the Whooping Crane and Sandhill Cranes tours. Last year, a total of 196 whoopers were spitted, and this represents 35 percent of the total population in Canada.
Those who are interested can choose from the dates provided, and everyone can expect there to be lots of photo ops. All of the proceeds will be passed along to its charity of choice, and private tours are available for booking, ranging from one to three days in length. They will all be led by either a birding specialist or a photography specialist, and two public tours are also in the works. There are two add-on tours that may be purchased, and special sunrise and sunset sandhill crane photo sessions are scheduled. The difficulty level is listed as “easy”, and the registration fee will depend on which one is chosen.
