A well-constructed terrarium can be a closed ecosystem unto itself, requiring very little care, and a Saskatoon venue will be teaching members of the public how to prepare these miniature plantings.
The Terrarium Workshop that will be taking place this February at Saskatoon Makerspace will be suitable for beginners, and it will be led by subject matter experts. The materials used will be selected by the attendees, and they can be as classical or as whimsical as they wish in their design.
The facilitator will discuss succulents, which are a type of plant that tends to do well in terrariums, and they will review tips for choosing plants that have similar requirements. Both open and closed styles will be on the agenda for discussion, and after this, it will be time to start planting. The soil, drainage base and rock foundation will be put in before the plants, and it will then be time to add the custom decor. All of the items will be supplied.
Tickets for this introduction to terrariums are $85.00 each, plus any applicable taxes. Tip sheets and other handouts for a class or similar activity can be crafted by area Stationery printers.
This easy introduction to the art of terrarium building will be on offer on February 24th. The venue can be found at 209 Avenue D South in Saskatoon.
