Saskatoon tour to visit cheerful chickadees

Black capped and boreal chickadees are well known for being cute and friendly wild birds, and a Saskatoon activity will give the public the chance to meet them up close.

Both beginner and experienced birdwatchers may find that the Chickadee Photography and Viewing Tour will be an afternoon that is a lot of fun. It has been organized by Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation, which helps injured or ill birds heal and, hopefully, return to their wild home.

This activity, which will be led by a guide, will visit chickadees in their natural habitat. They tend to be tame, and will often eat sunflower or other seeds out of a person’s hand. Downy woodpeckers, nuthatches and other species may be seen as well. Bags of sunflower seeds will be supplied, and its listing explains that the kids really enjoy themselves and the chance to meet some new feathered friends.

To help ensure that disabled birders can be part of the fun, the tour may be accessible to those who require a mobility device. Arrangements for this can be made in advance by calling 306-652-5975.

Wildlife tours can be a fun way to introduce kids to nature. Organizers of events like these can order basic field guides, promotional Pens, birder Journals and other items from area Print shops.

This chance to visit cheerful chickadees and other birds in their homes will be offered on April 1st. The venue is located at Highway 7 at 11 Street West in Saskatoon.
