The Saskatoon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a big winner thanks to the wedding of Shannon Tweed and long-time boyfriend Gene Simmons. Instead of gifts the couple asked their guests to make donations to the Saskatoon animal protection organization; so far over $5,700 has been collected. Shannon Tweed was raised in Saskatoon and still has relatives living in the city; she is a long-time supporter of animal charities.
Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons were married on October 1 in Beverly Hills, California and over 400 guests attended the service and reception. Daughter Sophie acted as maid of honour to her mother. The wedding was a long time coming; the couple have been together for 28 years and have two children of college age. The wedding will be seen on the reality show Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels next week.
The Saskatoon SPCA says that they will be collecting money for two more weeks. Anyone is welcome to donate in Ms. Tweed’s name and those who make a donation over $100 will have the opportunity to submit a photograph and message for the couple. In addition to the extra donations, this gives the Saskatoon SPCA world-wide attention and fame. This fame can be used in future marketing products such as a brochure or a flyer. Printing shops can help them to exploit this event by helping to design a campaign which will appeal to those who are fans of the couple or those who were not aware of all that the organization does for the community.
