Saskatoon session explores value of pollinator gardens

A movement is underway in Saskatoon to help bring back the bees, birds and other pollinators, and the public has been invited to take part.

A guided walk has been planned that will showcase the pollinator gardens of Buena Vista. It will be an easy one hour long outing, and everyone is welcome.

The excursion will visit several of the neighbourhood's pollinator gardens, and the group will learn why they are so important. They will discover how they provide food,a home and a place to raise a family for many species of butterflies, and also how they give native prairie grasses a second chance. The attendees will find out how they can incorporate these species into their own home garden and how this can make a big difference when it comes to biodiversity. The leader for the activity will be Sanda Walker, who is a local ethnobotanist.

A guided walk or other nature based activity gives the public a chance to discover how they can lend Mother Nature a helping hand. A brochure printing company can prepare handouts to distribute during a session, and these can offer a lot of information in a small amount of space.

This introduction to the importance of Buena Vista’s Pollinator Gardens is scheduled for May 5th. It will begin at 1:30 pm at 222 2nd Street in Saskatoon.
