Saskatoon group to offer birding tour

Saskatoon’s Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation offers birds and their animals that are ill or injured a second chance, and it has made arrangements to host a special program for the public this fall.

The organization will be offering opportunities to view endangered whooping and sandhill cranes, and attendees will visit these large birds in their natural habitat. Their numbers have risen in the past few years, rising from just 21 individuals to more than 500.

Those who would like to take advantage of this opportunity can choose from different tour packages, and these will be one or two days long. Masks must be worn, and each group will need to have its own vehicle. Both private and public options are available, and an experienced guide will help them to find the cranes and any other interesting species. Tax receipts will be issued, and a spotting scope will be provided.

An activity like this can be very exciting for a birder, providing the chance to see species they likely would not get to see on their own. Stationery printers will be able to aid in taking care of the business side of such an occasion by preparing documents like liability waivers and registration sheets.

The Whooping and Sandhill Crane Viewing Tours will be offered on various dates from mid September to late October. The price will depend upon which package is chosen, and additional details are available on the Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation website.
