Saskatchewan government seeking publics input

There is a long list of people waiting for a donation, but Saskatoon and the rest of Saskatchewan is below the national average when it comes to donors. The provincial government is investigating ways to change this.

According to the Saskatoon Health Region, both living and deceased individuals can donate tissues and organs, with one tissue donator helping up to 75 people and an organ donor saving as many as eight lives. Saskatchewan’s Standing Committee on Human Services will be hosting a series of public hearings in both Saskatoon and Regina to find ways of improving the rates of organ donation in the province.

Those who are interested in appearing before the committee, whether they are an individual or are representing an organization, are asked to get in touch with the committee clerk by no later than 5 pm on September 2nd. Those who do not do so may not be able to give their presentation in person, however, should they make a written submission, it will still be acceptable.

The committee will make its final report and recommendations to the province’s legislative assembly on or before November 30th of 2016. Binding services can be used to prepare bound Copies of documents such as this that can be distributed to the public and other interested parties. Further details can be obtained by emailing committees@legassembly.sk.ca or calling 306-787-9930.
