Woodstock woodworking event to go virtual

This fall’s Woodstock Wood Show will use a virtual format, providing a live-streaming event that aims to appeal to hobbyists and handy people far and wide.

The three-day virtual show will include a number of talks and seminars aimed at providing education on the art of woodworking. Confirmed speakers include furniture designer Norman Pirollo, speaking on how to use software alongside traditional design, professional artist Julie Bender, who will be demonstrating the craft of pyrography, and John Lesley from Oak & Feather Handmade Décor, who will give a talk on transforming a photograph into three-dimensional wood art. There will also be a number of live and interactive demonstrations of woodworking tools and techniques.

The event will be renamed the Virtual Wood Show in order to better appeal to a broad audience. The Wood Show is typically held in Woodstock each year, with sister events in Hamilton, Toronto and Ottawa. One of the main appeals of the physical show is a floor full of vendors and exhibitors, with such shows often offering unique Promotional Products.

The floor will be replicated in the virtual show through an online showroom, with vendors able to directly interact with visitors. Announced exhibitors include Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement, Digital Wood Carver and Black Walnut Studio.

The Virtual Wood Show will take place online between November 12 and 14. It will use an in-browser platform that does not require additional software.
