The Woodstock Performing Arts Collective will be producing the Canadian premiere of The Magician’s Elephant this April, aiming to present a heart-touching musical production.
The musical is adapted from Kate DiCamillo’s award-winning novel about a magician who summons an elephant from the sky, leading to a number of strange events in the seemingly ordinary town of Baltese. The musical features a book by Nancy Harris and music and lyrics by Marc Teitler.
The Woodstock PAC version of the show is a collaboration from a creative team featuring Victoria Bannon, stage manager Aleisha Brenneman, David DeJonge and three other producers. The company is focused on youth theatre and the on-stage roles will be played and sang by young talent from the Oxford County area following “triple threat” performance training.
The production will consist of four shows across three days, including a matinee performance. This is the sole PAC production of the year following a year-long performing arts course, and is the initiative’s first production. Stage shows like this typically use programme and brochure printing to help recognize the talent involved both behind and in front of the curtain, as well as other community members who lend support.
The Woodstock Performing Arts Collective production of The Magician’s Elephant will take the stage from April 16 to 18 at the Woodstock Collegiate Institute.
