Woodstock to open doors to visitors

The town of Woodstock will be taking part in the Doors Open Ontario program this October, providing free access to a number of heritage buildings and institutions.

The Woodstock Art Gallery, with two floors of artworks from local and national creators, will provide free admission for the day, with tours of the building and a slideshow highlighting the building’s history. Other participating buildings in Woodstock include Fire Station No. 1, the Public Library, the Mill, and the Baird Machines Inc building, each highlighting their history.

The Woodstock Museum National Historic Site will also invite people to explore the building’s history as a public market, council chamber and concert hall, going back to 1853. It currently features a number of attractions as the Oxford County Museum, and will feature a special behind-the-scenes tour for Open Doors day. This year will also include the new event Fall Fest as part of the Doors Open program in Museum Square.

The day is part of the province-wide Doors Open Ontario program, which highlights different Ontario municipalities throughout the year with free events. Historical events like this often use methods like banner printing and signage to help convey more historical information and welcome visitors in.

The 2025 Doors Open Ontario program in Woodstock will take place on October 4 at 10 buildings throughout the town.
