Woodstock to apply again to host university satellite campus

The City of Woodstock recently announced that it plans on applying in the future to be the host city for a university satellite campus.

According to the Mayor, Trevor Birch, though the city was not successful in its previous application to be the home of a new satellite campus of the University of Ottawa, it is undaunted, and will try again. He further noted that, even though Woodstock’s plan was not chosen, there were many positives that came about due to its application.

In order to increase the chances that this new plan will be accepted, the city is working with key partners and other stakeholders to make Oxford County a hub for research into renewable Forms of energy. Efforts are also being made to make it a centre for excellence in agriculture for the province and the larger area beyond.

Mayor Birch pointed out that there is still a lot to do to achieve these goals, and it is important for the city to promote itself. Presentations folders can be put to use in areas such as this. They can be designed to hold Brochures and other promotional materials, and if a supply is kept on hand, they can be given out whenever an opportunity arises.

The current plan is for Woodstock to apply to be the location of a satellite campus again in 2017.
