Woodstock set to focus on fiber

The Woodstock Fleece Festival will take place at the Woodstock Fairgrounds in under a month’s time and will be highlighting the work of fiber artists.

It will include adult workshops, children's workshops, demonstrations, food concessions, and vendors. Individual workshops have separate fees and some of the adult workshops topics are Spinning Angora Yarn, which costs $40, Adjusting and Adapting Knitting Patterns ($50), and Queen Anne's Lake Knitting (also $50). Some workshops include supplies and other require you to bring your own, so it may be worth calling the organizers to check in advance, or bringing supplies anyway just in case. Children's workshops will include such topics as Wacky Weaving for Kids, which will cost $10 including supplies.

Vendors, who can rent space for anything from $222 to $507 depending on size or location, will be selling items related to fiber art, such as raw fiber, buttons, yarn, finished knitwear, threads, and Shetland wool. Vendors who plan to take part will probably be working with Woodstock printing companies to prepare for the festival, perhaps investing in services like banner printing and sign printing.

For those who have often wondered how things are created with fibre and how they can create them themselves, this festival should provide everything that they need to know. They may even get a chance to create fiber art themselves. It will be held on October 13 from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. Admission is $6 for adults and children 15 and under are admitted free.
