For many people, springtime is a time when they do some organizing and dispose of what they can no longer use, and an event has been planned for Woodstock to help “one person’s trash become another person’s treasure”.
TrashapalooZa, which is being organized by the Oxford Coalition for Social Justice and the Ingersoll and District Nature Club, Transition to Less Waste and other community groups, will give those who take part a chance to get rid of what they can no longer use without it having to end up in the landfill.
People are invited to bring along everything from their old Books to clothing, furniture and even building equipment and scrap metal to the Woodstock Fairgrounds on the day of the swap. Everyone can browse through the items and take whatever they feel they can put to good use. There will be no charge to do so.
The event is scheduled for April 23 from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. The public can drop off their items until 2:00 pm, and people can browse and take until 4:00 pm. Banners can be created for events such as this, and in keeping with the theme of reducing the amount of waste that reaches the landfill, they can be made from durable materials so they can be used over instead of being thrown away.
