Woodstock Reads presents Terry Fallis

The Woodstock Public Library has selected award-winning novelist Terry Fallis’ second novel, The High Road, as its adult title for 2012.

Woodstock Reads will host “An Evening with Terry Fallis” on April 26, 2012, at 7:00 pm. The event will be held at the Woodstock Market Centre Theatre. Fallis will deliver a lighthearted program describing his own experiences in the political antics on Parliament Hill, the author’s experience in Canadian publishing and insight into the writing of his second novel. Afterwards, the author will be available for a book signing.

The High Road is a follow up to Fallis’ first novel, Best Laid Plans, which won the 2008 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour and the Canada Reads award in 2011. The author self-published his first novel, working with local printing companies before McLelland and Stewart picked up the novel after it won the 2008 award. Both Books are political satires that tell the story of an amateur politician who goes against the norm and actually dares to tell the truth. The novels are said to be laugh out loud funny and a must-read for anyone interested in current events, politics, history or culture.

Tickets can be purchased at the front desk of the Woodstock Public Library or at the Merrifield Book Shop. Both novels can be purchased at Merrifield Book Shop.

Woodstock Reads is a community based event whereby anyone can submit the name of a title to the library of their favourite new novel. Library staff will select five to review and then choose one to be the following year’s Woodstock Reads selected title.
