The gala event, called the Annual Heritage Dinner and Silent Auction, features a three-course dinner using ingredients from local growers and vendors, including roast beef from Norpac, mashed potatoes from Son-In-Law Produce, and sweet buttery corn grown by local farmer John Rettie. The evening will also include a presentation by Ian Bell on local history and the Historical Society’s work researching and preserving it. The group operates its own museum, which regularly hosts talks and presentations on historical events in Norwich and surrounding areas such as Woodstock.
The dinner will also include a silent auction, with prizes donated from a number of local businesses. Fundraising events like this often turn to local businesses for support, whether it be Print shops for promotion or vintage stores for rare auction items. All funds raised will go towards supporting the Society’s work. The Society also emphasizes the value of local food through its choice of dinner menu:
“Savor the rich, authentic tastes of our region as we transform the bounty of our local farms and artisans into a delectable feast. From farm-fresh vegetables to succulent, locally-raised meats, our chef's creations are a tribute to the vibrant and diverse flavors that surround us.”
The 2023 Norwich & District Annual Heritage Dinner and Silent Auction will take place on the evening of October 21 in Woodstock.
