The Woodstock Museum has been conducting virtual events and displays over the spring and summer, but it is now welcoming patrons back for special events, including an escape room and adult craft workshops.
The in-person programs are designed for families or “social bubbles”, consisting of one-hour timeslots for up to four people. The escape room is a series of large physical challenges, requiring participants to solve puzzles and riddles to find a way out of the room within a time limit. These types of rooms have become increasingly popular, sometimes advertising using tools like flyer printing, and have been a success in the past for the museum. The new version, called “Escape the Panic Room”, will feature different puzzles to past displays.
The museum has also launched a series of craft events. These monthly workshops will feature a “twelve days of Christmas” theme, designed to help crafters get a head start on the holidays. The first such class, held on September 15, will see participants produce a black felt calling bird. There will also be an outdoor walking tour of downtown Woodstock on the morning of September 30, focusing on the town’s history.
The Woodstock Museum’s escape room will be available to book on Friday and Saturday evenings until October 24, with the craft workshop running monthly in the lead up to the holiday season.
