Woodstock library continues to shine

The Woodstock library has served its patrons for many years, and newly-released stats show that it is still a vital part of the community

In the past two years, the number of people making use of its services has shown a definite increase. In fact, it has risen by 12%.

In 2013, 500,000 items were borrowed. These included Books, DVDs , CDs, and downloadable materials. This is 12,000 more Books and other physical items and 4,000 more downloads and e-Books than in 2012.

Employees at the library are very happy about the rise in numbers, and note that it demonstrates that it is listening to and meeting the needs of its patrons.

While there has been an increase in the number of e-Books being borrowed, this hasn’t resulted in a lowering of the numbers of paper Books being taken out. People seem to want to use both.

A new program has made it easier for members to access bestselling Books and DVDs. The program, called ‘the Express Collection’ was started in 2012, and doesn’t allow these to be placed on hold. There have also been a number of author-centered initiatives that have been welcomed by the public, such as Woodstock Reads and the International Festival of Authors. People who are new to using e-readers have made good use of the classes that provide instructions on how to access the electronic materials on offer.

Part of what can make a library a success is using printed advertising to inform the public about the different programs and items it offers. Using the services of a Print company is a convenient and cost-effective way to obtain these promotional materials.
