Families in need of educational or moral support will be getting a boost this spring, as the Woodstock Art Gallery is bringing back its popular Community Creation Kit program.
The program sees packages of crafts and art supplies sent to families identified as in need by the Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County. This year’s kit focuses on mixed-media art and includes activities and instruction, as well as materials like Mod Podge, sequins, a sketchbook, paint, crayons and washi Tape. There is also a second kit available that focuses on sculpture and includes air-dry clay, carving materials and access to an exclusive video tutorial. The kits are intended for children aged seven and up.
In addition to being distributed to families in need, the kits are also available to purchase through the gallery’s website, alongside art Books and Calendars featuring the work of area artists like Florence Carlyle and John Hartman.
The initiative, designed to replace in-person programming that would be taking place during March Break and throughout the year, was first launched in 2020 and is being brought back due to positive response. It aims to ignite children’s interest in painting, sculpture, graphic design and other creative arts, as well as providing relief to overburdened parents.
The 2021 version of Community Creation Kit was launched on March 9 and is currently available for pick-up or delivery through the Woodstock Art Gallery’s online store.
