The Woodstock edition of the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser will be holding its second edition this February, aiming to address the problem of homelessness.
The event takes the form of a charitable walk around sunset. Participants can choose to walk a two-kilometre or five-kilometre route, with a rest stop available on the five-kilometre edition. The route will be supported by Signs and marshals along the way. Participants are challenged to raise money to support their walk, which will go towards local homeless shelter The Inn of Oxford County.
The Woodstock Coldest Night of the Year is only in its second edition, but events of the same name have been taking place across Canada for 12 years. Last year’s event took place in 149 cities and towns and raised over $43 million dollars. The inaugural Woodstock event, which took place last year and used a virtual format, raised over $80,000 – the most for a first-year city in Coldest Night of the Year’s history.
The Coldest Night of the Year website contains a leaderboard for the teams and individuals who have raised the most money. Many companies will also match their employees’ charitable pledge. All participants will receive a commemorative toque. Charitable events like this often turn to local Print companies and other suppliers to help create unique items like this.
