The Ontario town of Woodstock will pay tribute to its rural roots with the eleventh annual Woodstock Fleece Festival this October. The festival, cheekily nicknamed “Woolstock”, caters to lovers of wool crafts and projects.
The Fleece Festival will feature a variety of workshops aimed at all skill and interest levels, ranging from Fibre Preparation 101 to “Felted 3D Landscapes” to “Brioche Texture and Cables.” These seminars are designed to help enthusiasts of knitting, weaving, rub hooking, and other crafts. There will also be live talks and demonstrations from groups like the Oxford Kniters & Spinners, the Canadian Embroiderer’s Guild, and the London Lace Makers.
Local food trucks Groovy Grilled Cheese and Todd’s Dogs will be on site to provide refreshments. There will also be a number of vendors on site, such as Canadian Alpaca Products, Feather Your Nest, and the Ontario Angora Co-Op. Crafters will enjoy being able to access specialty products from across Southern Ontario, traditionally a hotbed of craft enthusiasts.
