The science of raising cows will be in the spotlight as farmers from across the region gather in Woodstock this February for the Southwestern Ontario Dairy Symposium.
The one-day event is designed to provide education and development on dairy farming, from the fundamentals to the latest technological development, aimed at those involved in the industry. Sessions will deal with hot-button topics like AI and carbon markets, while other talks will be more technical, with names like “Winter Triticale Forage: The Quiet Crop with a Big Impact” and “Understanding the New Ontario Building Code: Key Changes for Dairy Producers”. There will also be a luncheon featuring food from participating Ontario farms.
In addition to the panels and discussions, there will also be an exhibition area full of displays from local farms and farm service companies. Exhibitors include ABS Global Canada, Grandview Concrete Grooving Inc., and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, among dozens of others. Events like this often see displays using poster printing, graphical displays, and hands-on elements to help make connections with others in the same industry. This will be the 40th edition of the Symposium, which has become a staple of the regional agricultural industry.
The 2025 Southwestern Ontario Dairy Symposium will take place on February 20 on the grounds of Gateway Casinos Woodstock.
