This May will see the return of the Dairy Capital Fun Run, this time with a new location, as the race invites locals of all fitness levels to “join the herd”.
The run will take place on new terrain that is a mixture of grass and gravel, with up to 600 participants able to register for a five or two-kilometre distance, which they can walk or run at their own pace. Children will also be able to run a “Lil’ Hoofer” distance. The event was previously held at Southside Park for several years, but this year’s edition will be hosted at Discovery Farm Woodstock. The Dairy Capital Run very much embraces the “fun run” label, emphasizing enjoyment and personal challenge over competition. All participants end the day with a finisher’s medal and commemorative T-shirt.
Funds raised through the run will go towards the Woodstock Hospital Foundation, a non-profit group that helps upgrade equipment and technology at Woodstock Hospital. Fundraisers such as this, often using tools such as brochure printing and social media to encourage participation, can be a major contributor to the budgets of non-profit organizations and provide an opportunity for people to give back to the community.
The 2023 edition of the Dairy Capital Run will take place at Discovery Farm Woodstock on the morning of Saturday, May 27.
