Woodstock celebrates Canadas 151st birthday

Woodstock is marking the nation’s birthday with a family-friendly festival, presented by the City of Woodstock.

There will be a variety of events and activities taking place during that day that will be sure to please people of all ages. A children’s zone will offer inflatables and fun activities, while a crafters’ alley and a beverage garden will keep adults entertained. In addition, there will be 1,500 red and white cupcakes to recognize Canada’s birthday. Food and drink will also be available for purchase.

Musical entertainment comes courtesy of Lynn Hickey, Genevieve Fisher and Fandango (a ZZ Top tribute band). There will be demonstrations from the Woodstock Taekwon-Do Club and performances by the Woodstock Cooperative Dance Studio. The day will finish off with a fireworks display due to start at 9:30 PM.

Applications for vendors are being accepted until this Friday, June 22. Fees are $50 for craft vendors for a 10 x 15-foot space and $250 for vendors with a 15 x 15-foot space. Vendors are expected to provide their own tents, tables and chairs.

Some vendors may contact a Woodstock banner printing firm to order items that will help decorate their booths.

The Canada Day Celebration will be held at Southside Park on July 1 from 2:00 to 10:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. Contact Brad Janssen at 519-539-2382 x4102 for more information.
