The Woodstock area’s Ingersoll Theatre of Performing Arts (ITOPA) will be presenting its version on a classic family tale this December with Daddy-Long-Legs.
The Ingersoll production will use a version of the classic tale penned by Jean Webster. The play tells the story of young orphan Jerusha who begins receiving support from a mysterious patron who she names Daddy-Long-Legs. The ITOPA presentation will be adapted and directed by Lilyane Moyer and produced by Ian Moyer. The 10-day theatrical run will include three matinee performances and four evening shows. The cast has been selected from an audition of local talent from the Woodstock-Ingersoll region.
ITOPA will also be raising money at the performance for new stage lighting designed to modernize the theatre and save electricity. The company is a volunteer-run community theatre group that has been in existence since 1976 and won numerous awards.
Amateur theatrical performances like this often involve the community in everything from the actors on stage to support from local businesses such as Print shops for promotion or vintage stores for set dressing. ITOPA will also be presenting a “Christmas with the Crooners” concert this December, as well as a number of plays and musical productions scheduled for the new year.
The ITOPA production of Daddy-Long-Legs will be staged from December 8 to 17 at the Ingersoll Theatre of Performing Arts building.
