Woodstock area first responders make helping others their first priority

At a recent event, first responders in Woodstock showed how far they go to help people – and not just during emergency situations.

A combination of the efforts of the Woodstock Fire Service, the Oxford Country EMS, and the Woodstock Police Service, local reports called the Lights and Sirens charity ball a big success.

Two new groups were added to the long list of charities that have been helped by a donation from the proceeds of the event.

More than 400 people came out to enjoy the festivities. The fundraising started even before the ball, with an online auction. During the gala evening, there was a live auction, with gift baskets and a framed jersey autographed by hockey player Jake Muzzin among the items up for bids.

During the past four years, Lights and Sirens has raised over $135,000 for local not-for-profit community service organizations.

The services of a printing company can help to make an evening like this even more special. Professionals can create decorations, Invitations, Menus, and any other printed items that are required.

According to one of the evening’s organizers, Deb Klem, planning the ball is a lot of fun, and the hardest part is trying to choose which charities will benefit, as there are so many worthy causes. This year’s selection were a group that helps support the health care needs of those on social assistance and the working poor, and also one that provides services to youth and families throughout the Oxford/ Elgin area.
