Time once again for roadworks in Woodstock

Spring has arrived in Woodstock, and along with the green grass, rain showers and blooming flowers comes the time when road construction and repair starts up again for another season.

Some of the projects that are planned for this year are already underway, while others have yet to get started. Harold De Hann, who is an Engineer for the city, remarked in an interview with Heart FM radio that these include improvements to the roadway between Dundas and Parkinson, widening the stretch from two to three lanes, adding traffic lights at Parkinson, and more. A water main is also to be installed beneath the rail bed of the tracks at Wilson Street.

Mr. De Hann asked the public to be patient and to plan their route and driving times accordingly, He pointed out that, for safety reasons, it is not permitted to drive through a construction area. Mailing services can be used in this type of situation to effectively let community members in the areas that will be affected know what to expect.

There are 213 kilometers of streets in the city that need to be maintained, and a list of those that are scheduled for repairs or other upgrades can be found on the City of Woodstock’s website. It also contains information that may be useful to those who live along a roadway where work is being done.
