New parents in the community of Woodstock and the surrounding area will now have the opportunity to have "well baby" visits from a nurse for their new family in the privacy and convenience of their own homes.
The new program replaces the former one where Well Baby Clinics were held, usually twice a month in Woodstock, Ingersoll or Tillsonburg. According to Ronda Manning, who is the Oxford County supervisor for their family health program, this step has been undertaken to provide a better level of service to those who live in the county.
For some rural families, getting to one of the bi-monthly clinics was difficult, so this move will help to ensure that their new babies get good care right from the start, no matter where they live. This will also make it easier for those who have difficulty in finding transportation into town to have their baby seen by the nurse. Parents will have more time to ask questions, and also receive more personalized information form the visiting nurses. A printing company can produce leaflets that provide information about the service that can be given to new parents before they leave the hospital.
