This October, Woodstock will once again be home to a collectors’ show aimed at model train enthusiasts and collectors.
The Woodstock Model Train Show is the first such show in over a year, after the original April edition was postponed due to social distancing concerns. It will feature a variety of vendors and traders from across Ontario providing items like train sets, transformers, tracks, instructional DVDs and displays, hobby supplies and memorabilia from real railroad lines, all across a 25,000 square foot show floor. Such shows are typically not only a great place for collectors to meet and do business, but they also offer a chance to see large-scale model trains in action.
The Model Train Show will be a cash-admission event that will feature a number of safety protocols, including masking, capacity limits and contact tracing. Even with social distancing rules in place, the organizer, Collectorshows.ca, is hoping it will be a relief to the hobbyist community.
Collectorshows.ca, which holds toy and nostalgia shows around Southern Ontario, also highlights local community events, such as auctions. Fans of niche hobbies like model train collecting often form tight-knit communities powered by magazines created through Print shops and online hubs.
The Woodstock Model Train Show is set to take place on October 17 at the Oxford Auditorium in the Woodstock Fairgrounds.
