In what has become a winter tradition, the CP Holiday Train will again make a stop in Woodstock, Ontario this year.
The train is a festive effort by the Canada Pacific Railway to spread holiday cheer and raise money to fight hunger. It is the program's 20th year in existence, and over this time it has raised over $13m in funds and collected more than four million pounds of food
This year there will be two trains, both departing from Montreal, with one heading down into the US and one westward across Canada. The US-bound train will stop in Woodstock at 199 Winniette Street at 6:45 pm. In addition to the holiday lights and displays that decorate the tree, there will be a performance by the Sam Roberts Band and Jojo Mason. City officials anticipate a large crowd at the train's stop in Woodstock, and encourage people to arrive early.
Food and cash donations at the Woodstock stop will go towards the local Salvation army. The Holiday Train is just one of many fundraising events held for a good cause this time of year. Smaller events may not have the glitz of the CP train, but can make up for it with inventive uses of flyer printing and brochure printing. The US-bound train will eventually return to Canada for its final stop in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, while the westward Holiday Train will finish its run in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.
