Dinner theatre to return to Woodstock area

The Embro & Zorra Agricultural Society will present its annual dinner theatre event this February, presenting the light-hearted comedy Splitsville in rural Oxford County.

The play, written by Linda Lloyd-McKenzie, deals with a recreational bowling team made up of a diverse cast of characters. The Embro production will be directed by Norm Northmore and feature local talent on and off the stage. Local theatrical productions such as this typically rely on community efforts for everything from tech set-ups to promotional program and flyer printing, and can draw in talent and audience members from surrounding areas such as Woodstock and Ingersoll. Promotional material for Splitsville highlights the emotional nature of the production:

“A heartfelt comedy set in the Splitsville Lanes Bowling Centre. Bringing together a cast of unforgettable characters. Relationships are tested, new ones are forged, and it all comes down to which team will win the Cup.”

The show will be paired with meals provided by Janice’s Fine Country Catering. This typically means a full dinner, but there is also a morning brunch show and a half-price version with appetizers and a cash bar. The play is meant to raise money for the Agricultural Society, which promotes environmental awareness and holds events throughout the year.

The Embro Dinner Theatre production of Splitsville will run on select dates between February 25 and March 4.
