The Ontario town of Woodstock’s annual ‘Cowapalooza’ festival and concert series took place on a cool August evening.
This year’s edition paid tribute to the 1969 Woodstock festival, which took place fifty years ago in the similarly-named New York town, with a slew of tribute artists and performances.
Southern Ontario musical artists adopted the personae of Sixties legends to take the audience on a trip back in time. The tributes included Michael Evans as Jimi Hendrix, Robin Benedict as Janis Joplin, and Joe Passion as Jerry Lee Lewis. Some artists, like Passion, have made a career out of imitation performances, while for others this was a one-night homage to a musical influence.
Before these performances took the stage at night, the festival focused on the city’s agricultural roots during the day. Members of the local agricultural society promoted the following weekend's Woodstock Fair.
Local food and craft vendors set up stalls, while families were attracted by a kid-oriented carnival, a petting zoo, and a special Smash Wrestling show.
