Charity gathers pajamas for Woodstock families

Not-for-profit group Power of Hope has reached its target of collecting 500 pairs of pajamas, stuffed toys, and toiletries for children in low income families in and around Woodstock.

The organization has only been around for 12 months, and it is already making a big difference.

Though the group, which comprises director of operations Karen Geerts and 10 other volunteers, has achieved what it set out to do, there are still nearly two months to go, and it is hoped that donations will continue to come in. These will be collected and distributed throughout the year. Besides pajamas, the volunteers will also be taking anything else which could help make life easier for the children.

The organization collects towels, toiletries, soft toys and other items for children and families in need. They are then given to the local Children’s Aid Society, Ingamo Homes and the Domestic Abuse Services of Oxford. The towel baskets that are given to women in the shelter are seen as particularly important.

With campaigns such as this, promotional materials can go a long way towards helping a not-for-profit group reach its goals. Print companies can create Posters, Flyers and leaflets that attract attention and let the public know how they can make a difference.

Power of Hope was started by Pennie Jamieson in Waterloo after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. She saw the devastation and wanted to help. Through her efforts, a truck full of supplies was collected and sent to the people in the city.
