Waterloo celebrates Earth Day

Waterloo has a few events planned for next month to observe this year's Earth Day.

Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22 around the world and has been observed since 1970. The main celebration, K-W Earth Day will take place on the Saturday after the official Earth Day. It is presented by the City of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener.

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities taking place during the afternoon. This will include tree planting and birdhouse building. There will also be a variety of crafts and games for kids. Visitors can also enjoy watching a live birds of prey show as well as having the opportunity to get up close to and touch city vehicles.

Leading up to the Earth Day celebration there are several community clean-up events taking place. Volunteers will be removing litter from public parks and trails over three days. All of the necessary supplies will be provided by Kitchener and Waterloo.

To help spread the word about special events such as these happening in Waterloo, local Stationery printers often provide Flyers and other printed products that are easily and inexpensively distributed.

The K-W Earth Day celebration will be held at Bechtel Park on April 27 from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free of charge.

The Community Cleanup will take place from April 26 to 28 from 8am to 8pm each day.
