Music festival to hit St. Catharines

The Cicada Music & Arts Festival will be returning to the Niagara region this October, bringing a selection of hit Canadian artists.

The show will feature three stages full of music across two days. The Friday show will be headlined by Canadian rock icons the Sam Roberts Band and 54-40, with supporting acts including Kasador and Hollerado. Saturday will begin earlier and feature performances from acclaimed indie artists Broken Social Scene and Rural Alberta Advantage. The festival will also feature Thom’s Backyard concerts with upcoming artists like Arih SK and Nicole Cerminara, and the winner of a local Rocksearch competition on the biggest stage.

In addition to music, the Cicada Festival aims to celebrate the arts, with visual art on display throughout the event and a makers market featuring the work of local crafters and artisans. There will also be locally-produced food, craft beer and other refreshments. The festival aims to be family friendly and inclusive.

The festival was founded in memory of Thom Lepp, with a focus on promoting inclusivity and raising money for causes such as the Pathstone Mental Health Foundation. Music festivals like this often use methods like banner printing and signage to highlight sponsors and local charitable causes.

The 2025 Cicada Music & Arts Festival will take place on Henley Island in St. Catharines on October 3 and 4.
